29TH STREET tells the tale of New York's first lottery winner and "the luckiest man alive", Frank Pesce Jr. (Anthony LaPaglia). Frank has been freakishly lucky since he was born. After surviving a difficult birth, his luck continued throughout his childhood growing up in a tough neighborhood in New York City. He always won a bet, and even what would seem to be bad luck became good luck. For example, when his girlfriend's brother stabbed him in the chest, the doctor found a pre-cancerous tumor. His good luck is matched only by his father's bad luck. Hardworking Frank Pesce Sr. (Danny Aiello) is deeply in debt to a mobster, and when Frank Jr. buys a ticket to New York's first lottery, everyone is so sure that his ticket will win that the mobster offers to forgive his father's debt if he can have the lottery ticket. Will Frank Jr. hand over the ticket? Based on a true story, the real Frank Pesce Jr. executive-produces and co-stars in the role of his brother, Vito.
