LIE TO ME

SERIES DESCRIPTION:

A dramatic series about a former police officer who is a "human lie detector," that is, an expert in reading facial and body language that gives away deception. He partners with a female clinical psychologist and opens up an agency that offers private investigation and crime solving.

PILOT - 1APW79 - 2009 - Dr. Cal Lightman is the world's leading deception expert. He studies facial expressions and involuntary body language to discover if and why someone is lying. He partners with a clinical psychologist, and opens up an agency that assists law enforcement, government agencies, and private individuals when they hit roadblocks in their searches for the truth. One of their first cases involves the son of a family of devout Jehovah's Witnesses. He is accused of killing his teacher after being caught fleeing the scene of her murder.

MORAL WAIVER - 1APW01 - 2009 - When a commanding officer of an important military unit is accused of a sexual assault, Cal and Torres are called in to determine if the accusation is true before he is shipped back to Afghanistan; and Gillian and Eli look into whether a college basketball star took a bribe from a wealthy benefactor of the university where he plays.

LIFE IS PRICELESS - 1APW02 - 2009 - In the wake of a building collapse, Lightman is brought in to determine who is at fault, and discovers a massive cover-up; and the team is hired by a dot-com billionaire to determine whether his girlfriend loves him for the right reasons.

LOVE ALWAYS - 1APW03 - 2009 - Cal and his team try to prevent the assassination of a South Korean ambassador at his son’s wedding, but the case takes a different turn when someone else is shot instead.

PERFECT SCORE, A - 1APW04 - 2009 - The murder of a teenage girl who is the daughter of a powerful federal judge leads the Lightman Group to a highly competitive college-prep school where getting to the head of the class means everything; and the team also investigates a NASA test pilot accused of intentionally crashing a $250-million aircraft.

UNCHAINED - 1APW05 - 2009 - Cal and Torres interrogate an imprisoned gang leader who claims to be rehabilitated; if the gang leader is freed, he might help fight inner-city violence… or return to his life of crime; and Foster and Eli investigate the death of a firefighter who was killed in the line of duty.

DO NO HARM - 1APW06 - 2009 - Cal and Gillian investigate the case of an 11-year-old girl who has been missing for two months; and Eli and Torres must determine whether a famous peace activist’s memoir is true, but Loker's attraction to the socially conscious woman may be clouding his judgment.

BEST POLICY, THE - 1APW07 - 2009 - When Cal is hired to find a corporate spy at a pharmaceutical company, he discovers a conspiracy surrounding a new drug that could put thousands of lives at risk; and the team is also hired by the State Department to assist with negotiations for the release of two Americans imprisoned in Yemen.

DEPRAVED HEART - 1APW08 - 2009 - Lightman becomes obsessed with his investigation of two young women who committed suicide; and the team tries to recover billions of dollars for investors who were bilked by a Ponzi scheme.

UNDERCOVER - 1APW09 - 2009 - The Lightman Group gets embroiled in the controversial case of a policeman who shot a potentially innocent teenager; and investors who were bilked by a Ponzi scheme are suing the Lightman Group for botching the recovery of their money.

BETTER HALF - 1APW10 - 2009 - When Lightman's ex-wife enlists him to help investigate an arson case in which the only eyewitness is a 5-year-old boy, it quickly becomes clear that she and Lightman still have feelings for each other; and Torres questions a rapper who is suspected of murder.

BLINDED - 1APW11 - 2009 - Ben Reynolds, an FBI agent who's pursuing a copycat rapist, partners with the Lightman Group; Cal infiltrates a prison to befriend Andrew Jenkins, a serial rapist who the new rapist may be emulating.

SACRIFICE - 1APW12 - 2009 - After a terrorist bombing, the FBI calls on the Lightman Group to help identify those responsible, and prevent more attacks; the case takes a personal turn for one member of the team, and begs the question of whether honesty is indeed the best policy.

CORE OF IT, THE - 2APW01 - 2009 - The Lightman Group investigates a murder case where a woman with multiple personalities may either be a witness or the killer; and the FBI hires the firm to vet a potential Supreme Court nominee.

HONEY - 2APW02 - 2009 - Eric Matheson, a man suspected of killing his wife, takes over the offices of the Lightman Group, and holds everyone hostage until they find the real killer; Cal’s decision to meet his demands and not involve the police may cost him his life.

TRUTH OR CONSEQUENCES - 2APW03 - 2009 - Zoe enlists the Lightman Group to investigate a star college football player accused of statutory rape; and Foster and Loker travel to a religious compound to find out whether it’s actually a nefarious cult.

CONTROL FACTOR - 2APW04 - 2009 - While on vacation in Mexico, Cal and Emily become involved in the case of a missing American woman; and back home, Gillian investigates tainted blood in DC area hospitals with Cal’s rival, Jack Rader.

GRIEVOUS BODILY HARM - 2APW05 - 2009 - A face from Cal’s past pulls him into a dangerous criminal conspiracy, testing his friendship and loyalty; and the Lightman Group investigates a high school student's homicidal threats.

FOLD EQUITY - 2APW06 - 2009 - Cal, Gillian, and Reynolds travel to Las Vegas to help locate a missing finalist in the World Series of Poker; Cal uses his skills to read the other competitors’ faces to figure out which one knows about the disappearance; and Eli and Torres analyze his new relationship.

LACK OF CANDOR - 2APW07 - 2009 - When a government witness is murdered, the FBI hires the Lightman Group to determine who leaked the witness' whereabouts to the killers, and to protect Agent Reynolds (the star witness in the case); when Reynolds refuses to testify in the case, Cal and Gillian learn he is hiding something in his past.

BLACK FRIDAY - 2APW08 - 2009 - A troubled teenager believes he was abducted as a baby, and turns to the Lightman Group to help him uncover the secrets of his past; and Eli investigates the origin of a deadly stampede that occurred at a megastore the day after Thanksgiving.

SECRET SANTA - 2APW09 - 2009 - During the holiday season, Cal goes to Afghanistan to assist in a mission to rescue two captured marines, and his only source of intelligence is an American expatriate.

TRACTOR MAN - 2APW10 - 2009 - Harold Clark, a farmer whose farm was recently foreclosed, he has set up camp in his tractor outside the White House, and is demanding to speak to the President. A 9-1-1 call from an anonymous source claims he has enough explosives to blow up the entire city. With Cal and the rest of the team on lockdown due their proximity to the blast zone, it’s up to Torres to handle all of the legwork. Via video-feed and phone, Cal is placed in the position of negotiator. The FBI wants to know if they need to take Harold out with a sniper, or if he’s a harmless nut job. With the clock ticking, Cal must determine whether Harold really has a bomb; if he’ll use it… and worse yet, if he’s part of a larger, more deadly conspiracy.
